Matthew Prinn has 20 years of experience working at small, large and mid-size law firms in the areas of business development, marketing, project management, pricing, and operations. He also has advised legal departments on best practices in creating and managing preferred panels and matter specific RFPs.
- A dozen years of experience with one of world’s largest law firms, the last 6 as Director of Business Development where he oversaw well over 250 RFPs a year globally.
- Experience issuing RFPs to law firms to help corporate counsel better manage outside counsel legal spend.
- Experience with all the different types of RFPs used in the legal industry, covering all practice areas and industries.
- Extensive experience negotiating pricing, (on both sides of the table) and crafting AFAs and non-traditional billing structures.
- 20 years’ experience “marketing legal services” which provides him with a unique insight on how to best “buy” legal services.

Spoke at the CLOC (Corporate Legal Operations Consortium) 2023 Annual Conference on the topic: “Best Practices and Obstacles to Avoid When Designing, Implementing & Managing a Preferred Panel.”
Presented at the 2023 Legal Marketing Annual Conference on the topic of “The Business of Law.” The presentation focused on learning the basic concepts of the business of law and understanding how law firms’ performance metrics influence data-driven decisions.
Hosted a webinar for hundreds of general counsel on: RFPs – Best Practices & Obstacles to Avoid. This complimentary program focuses on how to run a successful RFP in the legal industry.
Presented at the Buying Legal Council RFP Workshop, which is an intensive one day workshop geared to law firms on how to win more RFP proposals. Video copies of the presentation can be purchased via Buying Legal Council’s website.
